vondo Docs

Welcome. vondo is a budgeting app built on one simple idea: every dollar gets a category before you spend it, so when the bill arrives you already know exactly where the money is. It’s designed to be the kind of tool you actually keep using six months in. These docs cover everything you need to set up your accounts, build a working budget, and use vondo’s features confidently.

If you’re just getting started, head to Getting Started. If you’ve been here before and just need to look something up, the table below is your friend.

The idea, in one sentence

Every dollar gets a category before you spend it.

Each dollar you earn is assigned to a category — groceries, rent, savings, fun — until nothing is left unassigned. When you spend, the category balance decreases. If you overspend somewhere, you move money in from another category.

It works because it forces you to make spending decisions in advance, not after the fact. The result: at any moment, you know exactly what’s available for everything that matters to you.

The first month is the hardest. The tenth month is automatic. The reward is showing up at the end of the year and knowing — with real numbers, not vibes — exactly where your money went and exactly how much got saved.

That’s what vondo is for. Welcome aboard.
